CAPM and PMI – ACP Online Proctored Examination

PMI has taken a leaf from other leading training providers and has launched the option of taking up online proctored examination. Project management Institution is a global non-profitable organization for project management and indulges in developing and establishing standards, research, education and certification in the project management spectrum.
 What is Proctoring?
In the simplest form, a proctor is an examination invigilator. In a virtual setup, the invigilator or proctor is in a remote location and monitors the examination through audio-visual tools like webcam and microphone.

With Online proctored examination, all you need to take the examination are:
  • A computer with a webcam.
  • Reliable internet connection.
  • A quiet space to write the examination.

How does it work?

The initial steps to registering for both the CAPM and PMI-ACP certification examination remains the same. You will have to get PMI’s approval and pay the examination fee.

Once you get the approval and pay the examination fee, you can schedule the examination. It is here that you get the option to choose between center-based and online proctored examination.

Steps to System Check

  • Download the PV proctored file available on the PIM website, PMI.org.
  • Test your microphone and webcam when prompted.
  • Take a photo of yourself and present a government issues id card.
  • Execute internet check and take up a single question simulation examination.

How to Schedule the exam

Scheduling Online Proctored is similar to scheduling an examination. The steps to scheduling the exam are:
  • Log in to PMI.org.
  • Go to My PMI and click on ‘Schedule your exam’.
  • Review and accept the online protocol policy.
  • Select your preferred date and time.

  • Check-in and begin the examination.
  • You might have to repeat several steps performed during system test.
  • Once you have completed the system test, you will be placed in a queue to be connected to a live greeter.
  • Post this, you will be transferred to the proctor who will continuously monitor you throughout the examination.
  • Once the exam is completed, the result will be visible on the screen. You can always revisit MY PMI to review your result.
